​In an effort to monitor the progression of COVID-19 on local businesses, the County of Simcoe, in partnership with our member municipalities, the Cities of Orillia and Barrie, and regional partners are conducting a survey to determine how we can best support your business and advocate to various levels of government. Training and Coaching ​Resources 

  • Trade Accelerator Program: Do you require export tools or resources? Are you considering expansion into international markets? Do you need support to build an export strategy? ​​The Trade Accelerator Program program can help and is accepting applicants for a second cohort in December, 2020. ​​For more information, visit the Sandbox Centre we​​​bsite​​. ​
  • Rapid Skills​ Program: an innovative, industry-driven training program at Georgian College for the automotive and advanced manufacturing workers in a changing economy. The program includes 4 short-term certifications, including: industrial automation, hydraulics and pneumatics, precision machining and robotics, and also provides participants with employability skills training and industrial certifications, such as Forklift Operator and Working at Heights.
  • Skills at Work: ​at Georgian College offers one-to-one advanced career advisement with a direct career coach to plan the skills and training your employees require to move ahead in the manufacturing industry and make their future more secure with your company. The result will be a customized plan according to the individual needs, which may include free training opportunities. ​
  • Manufacturing Recovery Support Program:​ is a national coaching program offered through the Excellence in Manufacturing Consoirtum to help manufacturers better understand the current situation they face by identifying and supporting a clear path forward. 

Labour and Recruiting Resources 

  • ​Work in Simcoe County​ is a one-stop shop for careers and resources in Simcoe County, Barrie and Orillia. The portal features local resources including interactive activities for various STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) careers and the ability to map job opportunities. The website automatically aggregates listings from over 20 popular jobsites such as Indee​​d, Workopolis and more, which​ alleviates having to post directly on the website.
  • Excellence in Manufacturing Consorti​um​, via the​ WILWorks​ program, is a preferred partner for the Government of Canada to deliver the student Work Placement Program to Canada's manufacturing sector.

Automation Resources 

  • ​​Technology Assessment Program​ connects manufacturers in southern Ontario with experts to get customized technology assessments (up to $25,000 in reimburseable funds). The Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters will work on-site with companies to create a customized plan on how they can improve productivity by captilizing on existing assets and implement the latest advanced manufacturing technologies including hardware, sofware and cloud computing.
  • Innovation Canada: a customized list of grants and funding programs for manufacturers.
  • Research and Innovation Projects:​ Connect with Georgian College and Lakehead University to learn more about the researchers and students who could have an impact on your company.
  • 2020 World Manufacturing Report​the 2020 World Manufacturing Report focuses on the transformation of the manufacturing sector in the age of AI.

  • Ask an Expert: in an unprecedented crisis, where information changes rapidly, businesses have questions. Ask an Expert was created to help provide answers and guidance​ to navigate changing market conditions on topics like Health and Safety, Accounting, Marketing, Business Planning, Legal and Mental Health.
