Simcoe County

Simcoe County is an upper-tier municipality located north of the Greater Toronto Area and is comprised of 16 municipalities; the cities of Barrie and Orillia are located within the County’s boundaries. The County is situated on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, including the Ojibwe, Odawa and Pottawatomi peoples, collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy. The County’s geography and communities are closely connected with neighbouring First Nations, including the Chippewas of Rama First Nation and Beausoleil First Nation, as well as Métis citizens who have historic ties to Georgian Bay. Simcoe County stretches from the Trent-Severn Waterway in the north to the Holland Marsh in the south, and the shores of Georgian Bay in the west to Lake Simcoe in the east.
