A strategic goal of the County of Simcoe’s Economic Development Office (EDO) is to ensure that Businesses stay and grow in this region and that they are supported by a strong and innovative environment.  As such, the EDO strives to enhance communication regarding resources, events and education available to support the business community.  The resources listed below provide opportunities for the Business Development ecosystem to stay aware of shifting trends and to develop partnerships that will support innovation in the workplace.  Access to a robust and up-to-date catalogue of business resources helps Simcoe County-based businesses to remain competitive and ready to take-on rapidly shifting markets.

  • Ontario Made​: Manufacturers are encouraged to register their Made in Simcoe County products to the searchable Ontario Made​ consumer database to promote the very best that this Province has to offer.
  • Skills at Work:​ ​at Georgian College offers one-to-one advanced career advisement with a direct career coach to plan the skills and training your employees require to move ahead in the manufacturing industry and make their future more secure with your company. The result will be a customized plan according to the individual needs, which may include free training opportunities. ​​ 
  • Manufacturing Recovery Support Program:​ is a national coaching program offered through the Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium to help manufacturers better understand the current situation they face by identifying and supporting a clear path forward. 
  • Work in Simcoe County is a one-stop shop for careers and resources in Simcoe County, Barrie and Orillia. The portal features local resources including interactive activities for various STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) careers and the ability to map job opportunities. The website automatically aggregates listings from over 20 popular jobsites such as Indee​​d, Workopolis and more, which​ alleviates having to post directly on the website.​

  • Excellence in Manufactur​ing Consorti​um​, via the​WILWorks​ program, is a preferred partner for the Government of Canada to deliver the student Work Placement Program to Canada’s manufacturing sector.
