Ontario Agri-food Research Initiative


The Ontario Agri-Food Research Initiative (OAFRI) provides funding for agri-food research and innovation projects in Ontario, which is a key pillar of the Grow Ontario Strategy. OAFRI includes various funding streams to support research and innovation projects aimed at providing solutions for Ontario’s agri-food sector. The available streams include applied research, pilot and demonstration, commercialization, and knowledge translation and transfer. OAFRI is jointly funded by the Governments of Canada and Ontario under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.

MInistry of Research and Innovation and Science​


Arts and cultural groups and other members of creative industries

Public libraries, community museums, heritage organizations and historical societies. Three museum advisors, one conservation advisor and one historical resources consultant offer specialized advisory services to these grant recipients and other Ontario museums and heritage groups. Their services include site visits, training workshops and printed material such as a Museum Notes series.

Tourism associations, economic development corporations, municipalities, festivals and events, tourism businesses and organizations interested in undertaking tourism-related initiatives which support industry development and increased visitation.

Ministry of Colleges and Universities​


Provides a broad range of funding programs designed to support research and innovation at Ontario’s publicly assisted colleges and universities, research hospitals and research institutes.

MITACS


Mitacs Enterprise is a competitive 6-month internship and business mentorship program that gives graduates of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines an opportunity to work with small to medium-sized companies (SME) operating in a STEM sector throughout Southern Ontario.

Ontario Agri-Food Technologies


OAFT pro-actively supports the continued development and adoption of new agri-food technologies in a manner which will stimulate improvements in farm and food processing and industrial sustainability, profitability, and improve Ontario’s strong position in the agri-food sector, both nationally and internationally. They offer a number of funding programs to agricultural producers and processors, as well as grant writing assistance.

Ontario Creates


Ontario Creates enables creative industry companies to increase productivity, build scale, mitigate risks, access international markets, and achieve critical and commercial success. Ontario Creates is an agency of the provincial government whose mandate is to be a catalyst for economic development, investment and collaboration in Ontario’s creative industries including the music, book, magazine, film, television and interactive digital media sectors, both domestically and internationally. Funding programs are available for various sectors including book, film and television, interactive digital media, magazine as well as music.
